Mantra Pushpam is one of the Vedic hymns that is sung at the end of all major pujas while offering flowers to the deity. Although this Sanskrit hymn is used in everyday pujas, not many people actually know of this mantra. The slokas of Mantra Pushpam are borrowed from the Taittiriya Aranyaka, part of the Yajur Veda.
Download RingtoneIt is usually sung in a chorus by all the Pujaris (priests in Hinduism) together. According to many spiritual gurus, the essence hidden in the Mantra Pushpam is very deep, and its shlokas are written in a cryptic way. In some parts of India, particularly in the south, the Mantra Pushpam is also known as the Manthra Pushpam.
According to spiritual leaders, if the essence of the Mahabharata can be found in all 700 slokas of the Bhagavad Gita, then the Mantra Pushpam contains the essence of all 700 slokas of the entire Bhagavad Gita. Perhaps this is why, at the end of any puja ceremony, when Mantra Pushpam is chanted, all devotees are asked to stand up in their respective places to show their obeisance to the deity.
